ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon volleyball team opens its home schedule when the Golden Knights host Ashland on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Cathedral Prep's Hagerty Family Events Center.

Matt Darling's team will play its entire 2024 home season at Joann Mullen Gymnasium in the Hagerty Family Events Center as the renovations of Gannon's Highmark Events Center continue through 2024.

This match will be the only home date among Gannon's first 12 matches. The Golden Knights opened the season with four matches at the Oredigger Classic in Golden, Colo. After this home match, GU will travel for three matches at the D'Youville Tournament and four matches at the PSAC-MEC Crossover in Wheeling, W.Va. Gannon will return home on Sept. 27 against IUP.

Golden Knights to Watch:
Senior libero Emma Hall (Lowell, Mich./Lowell): Gannon's veteran defensive standout is poised to move up the program's all-time digs list. She had 60 digs this season and 1,870 in her career. She could pass No. 3 Sara Crandall (1,872 digs, 2014-17) and No. 2 Toni Leitshuh (1,884 digs, 2016-19) on Wednesday. Hall would then set her sights on record holder Taryn Graham (2,003 digs, 2011-14).

Senior outside hitter Journey Blevins (Richwood, Ohio/North Union): The three-time All-American opened the season with at least 10 kills in each of the first four matches, including a high of 16 against Michigan Tech. She finished with 49 kills, 18 digs and seven total blocks in the four matches.

Senior middle blocker Ali Sorenson (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way East): She turned in a solid performance in the Oredigger Classic with 31 kills and 16 total blocks in Gannon's four matches. Sorenson had a huge match in GU's win over Colorado School of Mines, collecting 13 kills with a .591 attack percentage. She also had six blocks against Michigan Tech.
Student shuttle:
An EMTA  shuttle will be available to take Gannon students to and from the volleyball match on Wednesday. The shuttle will pick up students beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the front of the Rec Center and  will run in a continuous loop until 8:30 p.m.

Gannon will travel to Buffalo, N.Y., on Sept. 13-14 to play three matches in the D'Youville Tournament.
