Four Gannon lacrosse players score twice in home finale as GU falls to Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – Four Gannon women's lacrosse players scored two goals apiece on Tuesday, but the Golden Knights could not overcome an early deficit in an 18-9 loss to Mercyhurst.
 
After the Lakers took a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, the Knights erupted for six goals in the second quarter. However, Mercyhurst secured the win by outscoring Gannon 4-0 in the third.
 
Gannon, which finished the season 1-1 against Mercyhurst, dropped to 4-12 overall and 2-9 in the PSAC West. The Golden Knights will close the season at Edinboro on Friday. Mercyhurst moved to 4-11 and 3-8.
 
Tuesday's game represented the final PSAC contest between Gannon and Mercyhurst, which is leaving the conference after the season.

McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg), Macy Hepditch (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic), and Skyler Parsons (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) each scored twice for Gannon. Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) had Gannon's other goal.
 
Woodworth added two assists as she led Gannon with four points. The senior now has 27 goals, 23 assists, and 50 points this season. She is one away from career high of 51 points in 2022. She has 141 goals and 46 assists in her career for 187 points.
 
Stevens also had an assist, and she paced Gannon with eight draw controls. The junior midfielder has 37 goals and 10 assists this season to tie her career high with 47 points. She also has a career high of 91 draw controls.
 
Hepditch now has 75 career goals and 96 points.
 
GU's Riley Finnegan (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) made eight saves in goal.
 
Whitley Easton scored a game-high five goals and eight points for Mercyhurst.
