GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Gannon women's basketball team will head into the postseason on a roll.
Coach
Cleve Wright's Golden Knights claimed their fifth win in a row as they beat Seton Hill 80-62 in the regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon at the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center.
Gannon closed the regular season 29-2 overall and completed the PSAC West season at 21-1. The Knights already had clinched the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the PSAC Tournament, which opens Monday.
Gannon will open in the quarterfinals on Wednesday when it hosts the winner of the Edinboro-Mercyhurst first-round game. Edinboro is the fourth seed while Mercyhurst is the fifth.
No. 6-seed Seton Hill (14-14 overall, 11-11 PSAC West) will meet No. 3 California in the first round on Monday.

Gannon takes control:
Seton Hill built an early 10-5 lead, but Gannon pulled off a 14-3 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Golden Knights never trailed again as they steadily built a 33-24 halftime lead.
Gannon used 3-point shooting in the first half as
Maddy Wheatley (Canberra, Australia/UCSSC Lake Ginninderra) led GU with 8 points,
Bri Claxon (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) had 7, and
Carissa Dunham (Fairview, Pa./Villa Maria) had 6. Wheatley and Dunham were both 2-for-2 from 3-point range in the half, and Claxon added a 3-pointer.

Pirosko's asserts herself:
Senior post player Sam Pirosko entered the weekend with 64 consecutive games scoring in double figures. With 7 minutes left in the third period on Saturday, Pirosko was still scoreless and was 0-of-4 from the field.
However, the 5-foot-10 standout proved that she can get hot in a hurry. She did not miss a shot the rest of the game.
She went 3-for-3 from the field and 8-for-8 from the field the rest of the game. She scored 12 points in the third quarter, including a layup before the buzzer to give Gannon a 60-43 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Pirosko finished with 14 points and had a team-high 11 rebounds as she had her 11th double-double of the year and her 65th consecutive double-digit game. She also led GU with four assists.

Plenty of balance:
Wheatley turned in one of her finest performances of the season. The sophomore guard tied Pirosko for team-high honors with 14 points as she shot 5-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range.
She also had six rebounds as she played 24 minutes off the bench.
Sophomore guard
Bri Claxon (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) also scored in double figures with 12 points. Dunham hit all three of her 3-point field-goal attempts and finished with nine points.
Kate Ratliff (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) also scored nine points.
Gannon guard
Trinitee Harris (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) returned to the lineup after missing a couple of games with an injury. She scored six points in 11 minutes.
