Hyde Contributes Two Goals and an Assist in 5-0 Win over Pitt-Johnstown

No. 18 Golden Knights conclude undefeated Western Division season

WINDBER, Pa.Rafa Hyde (São José dos Campos, Brazil) came off the bench to contribute two goals and an assist leading Gannon to a 5-0 shutout of Pitt-Johnstown on Friday afternoon. The match wrapped up the regular season for both teams with Gannon moving on the PSAC Tournament next week.

The Golden Knights concluded an undefeated PSAC West season while improving to 7-0-3 and 13-2-3 overall. UPJ ends the year at 3-13-1 and 0-9-1, respectively.

Gannon defeated the Mountain Cats for the second time this season by an identical 5-0 score and is now 15-0-1 all-time against the Mountain Cats.

Head coach Billy Colton's team now moves on to play in the PSAC Tournament. As the top seed out of the Western Division they receive a first-round bye and will face the winner of the Eastern Division quarterfinal game in the semifinals.  Bloomsburg, the top seed in the Eastern Division, will host the PSAC Final Four on Friday, November 15 and Sunday, November 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams were scoreless for 27 minutes before Gannon scored three times in a span of 14 minutes to take a 3-0 lead at the half. The first goal was courtesy of Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs), his ninth of the season, assisted by Herman Aanberg (Hamar, Norway/Wang Toppidrett Oslo) at 27:42.

Hyde scored his first goal of the match at 34:46 to make it 2-0. RJ Benedict (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) assisted on the goal. Aanberg accounted for Gannon's third goal at 41:18, with assists going to Orten and Hyde. It Aanberg's second goal of the season.

Just over five minutes into the second half Hyde boosted Gannon's lead to 4-0 with his second goal of the match and ninth of the season. It came at 50:47.

Per Kristian Lauvstad (Nesoya, Norway) wrapped up Gannon's scoring at 72:30, assisted by Shota Toyama (Kanagawa, Japan/Tama). It was the freshman's tenth goal of the year.

BY THE NUMBERS
Gannon held a wide 29-3 advantage in shots, including a 15-1 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Knights also had eight corner kicks to one for UPJ.

Rafa Hyde (São José dos Campos, Brazil) scored a pair of goals while adding an assist. It was the sophomore's second game of the season with two-or-more goals.

Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) maintained the team lead in points with 29, scoring his ninth goal to go with 11 assists.   

Redshirt sophomore Andre Moraes (Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil/Colegio Singular) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded one save. He registered his eighth save.

Gannon has now outscored its opponents by a 64-14 margin. They have shut out nine opponents.
