The No. 5 Gannon women's soccer team tightened their grip to becoming the No. 1 seed in the PSAC West with a 1-0 victory at McConnell Family Stadium on a chilly Saturday night.
Prior to the contest, the women's soccer program honored their five seniors:
Gabby Boden (Butler, Pa./Butler),
Tara Duffy (Brampton, Ontario/North Park Secondary),
Maggie Eaglen (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Jamie Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum), and
Paige Taylor (Robina, Australia/Emmanuel College).
Grace Emanuel (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored the lone goal of the contest at the 29:35 mark for the Golden Knights on a through ball in the box from
Brooklyn Respecki (McKean, Pa./General McLane) to earn the 1-0. Gannon held possession for most of the match outshooting the Griffins 42-3, with 25 shots on target.
Seton Hill goalkeeper Sydney Caldwell secured 24 saves and just allowed one goal in 90 minutes of play to keep the Griffins in the contest.
The senior night victory gives the Golden Knights a 12-0-3 overall record, and a 9-0-3 ledger in PSAC West action heading into the final week of the regular season.
Gannon will travel to Clarion on Wednesday, November 6 and conclude the regular season on Saturday, November 9 when they travel to the number two team of the West, IUP. Gannon leads IUP in the Western Conference with a 30-27-point advantage. Gannon and IUP clinched PSAC playoff berths earlier this week, with both teams looking to clinch the No. 1 seed in the West.
