CHARLESTON, W.Va. –
Bri Claxon (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) scored 26 points, and
Trinitee Harris (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) both made a clutch buckets during the final 10 seconds as the Gannon women's basketball team stayed unbeaten with a 71-68 victory over Charleston.

The No. 11-ranked Golden Knights improved to 7-0 with the non-conference victory at Wehrle Arena.

Gannon trailed 68-67 during a timeout with 19.3 seconds to go. The Golden Knights inbounded the ball to Harris, who drove to the left, reversed court and drove down the right side of the lane for a layup with 7.3 seconds to give GU a 69-68 lead.

After the Golden Eagles inbounded the ball, a Charleston player drove down the left side of the lane and lost the ball when she cut between two GU defenders. Claxon grabbed the loose ball for the steal and was fouled with 1 second to go. Claxon then made both free throws to clinch the win.

That ending completed a big fourth quarter for the Knights. They outscored the Golden Eagles 18-11 in the final period after trailing 57-53 through three quarters.

Claxon scored her game-high 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 on 3-point shooting, and 3-of-4 free-throw attempts. She also led Gannon with seven rebounds and added two steals.

Junior forward
Maddy Wheatley (Canberra, Australia/UCSSC Lake Ginninderra) continued her fine early season play with 14 points, four rebounds, and three steals. She shot 4-of-8 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range. She also connected on all four of her foul shots.

Andrea Maibach (Creston, Ohio/Norwayne) scored eight points,
Kate Ratliff (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) added seven, and Harris finished with six.

Gannon won despite shooting just 39 percent (23-of-59) from the field. The Knights shot 90.5 percent from the foul line, making 19-of-21 attempts.
