ERIE, Pa. – The first-place Gannon volleyball team will host two talented PSAC West opponents this weekend and will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday at Hagerty Family Events Center.

Coach
Matt Darling's Gannon team will welcome Pitt-Johnstown on Friday at 7 p.m. and Clarion on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the second matchup of the season with both teams. Gannon traveled to both schools on the weekend of Oct. 4-5 and pulled off five-set comeback road wins agaisnt each. The victories were crucial in helping GU build a lead in the PSAC standings.

Gannon owns a three-match lead in the PSAC West standings and will look to maintain the momentum of a 10-match winning streak. The Golden Knights own a 9-0 record in the PSAC West and lead second-place Seton Hill (7-3) and third-place Clarion (6-3) by three matches in the loss column.

The Golden Knights have five matches remaining on the PSAC West schedule so these two matches could go a long way in helping Gannon's pursuit of a No. 1 seed in the PSAC Tournament.

After Saturday's match again Clarion, Gannon will recognize seven seniors who have meant so much to the GU program:
Journey Blevins (Richwood, Ohio/North Union),
Sarah Boyd (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Emma Hall (Lowell, Mich./Lowell),
Hailey Koch (Littleton, Col./Dakota Ridge),
Ali Sorenson (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way East),
Delaney Thomas (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), and
Lara Toruner (Istanbul, Turkey/Terakki Foundation).

Golden Knights to Watch:
Senior outside hitter Journey Blevins (Richwood, Ohio/North Union): The three-time All-American (twice at Findlay) dealt with an injury for much of the season but has been a big part of during Gannon's winning streak. She ranks third on the team with 205 kills and 236.5 points.
Senior middle blocker Ali Sorenson (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way East): Â The 6-foot-2 senior leads the Golden Knights and the PSAC West with an outstanding .399 hitting percentage while ranking second on the team with 208 kills. She also leads Gannon with 272 points and 104 total blocks.
Senior right side Hailey Koch (Littleton, Col./Dakota Ridge): The 6-foot-3 senior paces Gannon with 233 kills and ranks second with 262 points. She ranks third on the team with 51 blocks.
Senior libero Emma Hall (Lowell, Mich./Lowell): A four-year standout GU's back line, Hall leads Gannon with 429 digs this season. That total ranks second in the PSAC. She became Gannon's all-time digs leader earlier this season and has 2,239 career digs going into the weekend.

Scouting Pitt-Johnstown:
UPJ has a talented outside hitter in Lualis Alvarado. She leads the Mountain Cats with 320 kills and 350 points. Adiamar Beaz leads the PSAC West with 869 assists and 47 service aces. Gabriella DeRenzo leads the PSAC with 458 digs.
Scouting Clarion:
The are led by All-American outside hitter Cassidy Snider, who leads the PSAC with 438 kills, 101 more than any other player. Â She also leads the PSAC with 477.5 points. Kylie Barto paces Clarion with 371 assists, while Haley Fledderjohann has 346 digs.
What's ahead:
Gannon will host Erie County rival Edinboro on Wednesday.

Student shuttles:
The EMTA will provide shuttles to both weekend matches starting one half-hour before each match. Students must show their Gannon ID. The shuttles will run in a loop until two-and-a-half hours after the start of each match.

Parking Reminders at the Hagerty Family Events Center (HFEC)
A high school football playoff game also will be played on Friday night at Hagerty Family Events Center, so the parking lots may fill up quickly. General parking is available in both the upper and lower parking lots on Walnut Street, on the east side of HFEC. Please refrain from parking along Walnut Street, in the circle, and anywhere there are signs or markings that state NO PARKING. These areas for bus parking ONLY, and cars need to pass through for student drop-off and access to the parking lots. Students should be dropped off and picked up on Walnut Street.

The Cherry Street parking lot is for handicap parking ONLY. All cars that park in this lot must have a handicap plate or placard. Students are not to be dropped off or picked up in this parking lot.

Overflow parking is located on West 12th and Poplar streets, with access just west of HFEC. There is a bridge that crosses over Cherry Street to get inside the Hagerty Family Events Center.

In the case that the Walnut Street and Poplar Street parking lots are full, you can park in the student parking lot located at West 11th and Chestnut streets.

If you are parking in the Walnut Street parking lots, it is recommended that you exit through the upper Poplar Street parking lot and go to the light at West 12th and Chestnut streets for a safe exit from HFEC. Parking is prohibited at FBO Fitness, U-Haul Storage, or any other businesses around HFEC. If you park in the prohibited areas, you take the risk of being towed at your own expense.
