What happened:
  • The game was scoreless at halftime, but Gannon had several strong opportunities score after outshooting the Fighting Scots 8-2 in the first half.
  • Gannon struck first on freshman Victoria Wheeler's (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) first collegiate goal, a shot into the top of the net over Edinboro goalie just 7 minutes into the second half.
  • Edinboro tied the score on Sophia Depew's goal with about 20 minutes to play.
  • Fedale put Gannon ahead for good when she took a beautiful crossing pass from freshman Brooklyn Respecki (McKean, Pa./General McLane) and slid it past a charging goalie from about 10 yards out.
  • Fedale added an insurance goal on Gabby Boden's (Butler, Pa./Butler) corner kick as she connected with a one-timer behind the goalie.
  • In addition to Wheeler and Respecki, several other freshmen made an impact for Gannon. Midfielder Grace Emanuel (Erie, Pa./McDowell) made her first appearance of the season after returning from a preseason injury. She showed some strong ball-control skills. Defender Hannah Shepard (Erie, Pa./Mcdowell) made her third start, while Lydia Knepp (Lewisburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) saw significant time on defense. Another freshman, Amelya Bretz (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek), saw significant time in reserve.
