GREENSBURG, Pa. – Senior forward Sam Pirosko struck for a career-high 33 points and
Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) scored the go-ahead basket late in the fourth quarter on Saturday afternoon as the Gannon women's basketball team rallied for an 84-80 victory over Seton Hill.
Gannon trailed 70-64 with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Knights outscored the Griffins 20-10 the rest of the way as they avenged their only loss in their past 20 games at SHU's Katherine Mabis McKenna Center.

Emma Wright (Fairview, Pa./Talawanda) each had six points during that fourth-quarter run, and Dogan put Gannon ahead for good, 82-80, on a layup with 1:06 remaining. Wright then sealed the win with two free throws with 17 seconds remaining.
Gannon, which already has sealed the PSAC West regular-season title, improved to 25-3 overall and 17-3 in the PSAC West. The Golden Knights, who have a four-and-a-half game lead over second-place IUP (13-8), will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament.
Seton Hill was the last team to beat Gannon, which has won seven games in a row. The Griffins defeated the Golden Knights 87-72 on Jan. 25 at the Highmark Events Center to end Gannon's 12-game winning streak. GU also opened the season with a six-game winning streak.

PIROSKO POWER

Pirosko continued her late-season roll by scoring 33 points for her third 30-point game of the season. She edged her previous career high of 32 points, which she achieved twice, including once this season.
She is making a push for the PSAC West Player of the Year award after scoring at least 22 points in six consecutive games and averaging 25.7 points per game in that span. For the season, she's averaging 20 points per game, which ranks first in the PSAC West and second among the 18 teams in the PSAC.
The 5-foot-10 forward also grabbed 12 rebounds as she recorded her third consecutive double-double. She had 17 points in the first half and 16 in the second half.
Pirosko sank 11-of-22 field-goal attempts, including one 3-pointer, and made 10-of-16 free-throw tries. She leads the PSAC with a .560 field-goal percentage.
Pirosko also hit a career plateau by topping the 1,400-point mark. She now has 1,407 points, which ranks 10th in Gannon history.

MEMORABLE BIRTHDAY

Emma Wright (Fairview, Pa./Talawanda) celebrated her birthday with an outstanding effort on Saturday. The 5-foot-11 shooting guard scored 10 points in the first half, and she collected eight important points in the fourth period to fuel Gannon's rally.
Wright connected on 6-of-15 field-goal attempts, including 2-of-7 3-pointers, while making all seven of her free-throw attempts. She added five rebounds and three assists.

Dogan had a strong all-around effort with eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.

Gannon will close the regular season with back-to-back games against Erie County rivals.
The Knights will travel to Edinboro on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m, game against the third-place Fighting Scots (15-10, 12-8).
Gannon will then host Mercyhurst (15-12, 10-10) on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. on Senior Day at the Highmark Events Center.
