Gannon's Sam Deinek honored as PSAC Women's Volleyball Champion Scholar

Junior outside hitter has 3.987 GPA in Early Childhood Education

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon University's Sam Deinek (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon East) has been named the PSAC Volleyball Champion Scholar. Deinek was presented the award prior to the start of Friday night's PSAC semifinal match between Gannon and East Stroudsburg.

The Champion Scholar is awarded at each of the league's 22 championship sites and is awarded to the student-athlete at the finals site who has the highest grade-point average and has completed at least 48 credit hours.

A junior outside hitter from South Lyon, Michigan, Deinek is an Early Childhood Education major. She maintains a 3.987 GPA and to date has earned 70 credits.

Deinek is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, and a year ago she earned CSC Academic All-District honors. She was also named a 2022-23 D2ADA Academic Achievement Award Winner.
