Ferrer Delivers Lone Goal as No. 7 Gannon Defeats Seton Hill 1-0

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Seton Hill was able to slow down Gannon's high-powered attack on Saturday afternoon but the Griffins were unable to hand the seventh-ranked Golden Knights their first loss of the season. Gannon remained undefeated at 15-0-2 with a 1-0 win.

Gannon has already clinched the number one seed in the PSAC West and will host the PSAC Final Four on November 10 and 12. The Golden Knights improved to 8-0-1 in league play but the loss doesn't kill Seton Hill's chances. The Griffins dropped to 5-11-1 and 3-5-1 in league play. They host Slippery Rock on Friday with the final Western Division playoff berth up for grabs. SRU has 12 points and Seton Hill 10.

A week ago Seton Hill upset Mercyhurst 1-0 and the Griffins looked to do the same to the Golden Knights on Saturday. The two teams battled to a scoreless tie at the half but Gannon finally broke through in the 63rd minute. Pau Ferrer (Valencia, Spain/ISES Isabel de Villena), who leads Division II in assists, was on the receiving end this time as he scored his seventh goal of the season, assisted by Herman Aanberg (Hamar, Norway/Wang Toppidrett Oslo).

Samuel Alarcon (Madrid, Spain/Colegio el Valle II) made the goal stand up as the sophomore recorded his fifth shutout of the season and 13th win. Alarcon had three saves.
Gannon held a 19-6 advantage in shots and had 11 corner kicks to five for Seton Hill.

Gannon concludes the regular season on Friday hosting Pitt-Johnstown on Friday, November 3. The match gets underway at 12 noon at McConnell Family Stadium. The Golden Knights look to remain undefeated heading into the postseason. The only time that occurred was 1985, when the Golden Knights ran off 20 straight wins before losing in the NCAA Tournament to finish at 20-1-0.
