First-place Gannon to host two PSAC West matches this weekend, including Senior Day

Golden Knights to welcome California, Pa., on Friday and Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon

ERIE, Pa. – Things have changed significantly in the past week for the Gannon volleyball team.

Going into last weekend, the Golden Knights were in second place in the PSAC West before a showdown with division leader Clarion.

One week later, coach Matt Darling's Gannon team is alone in first place and Clarion has dropped two matches in a row to fall into second place.

The Golden Knights defeated the Golden Eagles in five sets at Clarion on Saturday to move into a tie for first place. Clarion then lost to IUP on Tuesday as Gannon slipped alone into first place with a 9-1 record (18-3 overall). The Golden Knights have won nine in a row.

Gannon will now try to remain on pace for the No. 1 seed in the PSAC West this weekend when it hosts California and Seton Hill on back-to-back days. That includes Senior Day on Saturday when Gannon will honor Madde Blake (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central), Makenna Gavin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth), Marta Roicka (Warsaw, Poland/North Central Texas Academy), and Anja Vranic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sport Gymnasium). Gannon will hold its Senior Day festivities after that match.
