Gannon volleyball team to host Slippery Rock on Friday before showdown at Clarion on Saturday

Golden Knights have won seven in a row going into final contest of six-match home stand

ERIE, Pa. – The fantastic finishes continue for the Gannon volleyball team, but head coach Matt Darling wouldn't mind seeing a little less drama in his team's victories.

For the fourth time in the PSAC West season, the Golden Knights lost the first two sets in a match and then rallied to win in five sets as they topped Daemen on Wednesday in a non-conference match.

Now, Gannon welcomes Slippery Rock to the Highmark Events Center on Friday night to start the second half of the PSAC West season.  It's the same Rock team that won the first two sets against the Knights on Sept. 19 in Slippery Rock, only to see Gannon rally for a 3-2 win.

The matchup against SRU will be the final contest in Gannon's six-match homestand. GU has won the first five matches of the home stretch as part of their current seven-match winning streak. Gannon has not lost since falling to fellow PSAC powerhouse Clarion 3-1 on Sept. 23.

On Saturday, the Golden Knights will go on the road to face the archrival Clarion Golden Eagles. Gannon lost to Clarion in the team's first matchup of 2022 before GU beat Clarion in the regular-season finale, the PSAC Tournament championship match, and the Atlantic Regional title match.
