Fadale's Goal Leads Gannon to 1-1 Tie with Seton Hill

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's soccer team battled Seton Hill to a 1-1 tie on Saturday evening at McConnell Family Stadium in a PSAC West match. The deadlock leaves the Golden Knights at 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-2 in conference action. Seton Hill is 3-1-3 and 1-1-3 in the PSAC West.

Gannon opened the scoring at the 28:15 mark of the first half as Ella Fadale (Brockport, N.Y.) beat goalkeeper Grace Kenyon. The freshman midfielder took a long pass from the other side of midfield and broke into the open. When Kenyon came out of the net, Fadale juked her slightly and slid the ball just inside the right corner of the net for her third goal of the season. It was just the fourth goal allowed by Seton Hill all year.

The score remained that way until Seton Hill found the back of the net at 73:51. Alexis Garia gave a beautiful centering pass from the left wing to Crynna Rotoli, who would score from 10 yards out, also into the right corner of the goal. The goal was the first allowed by Gannon in over 267 minutes after back-to-back shutouts against Edinboro and Clarion.

Gannon held a slight 14-12 advantage in shots, including 9-8 in shots on goal. The Golden Knights had eight corner kicks compared to six for the Griffins. Kennedy Solymosi (Eastlake, Ohio/Lake Catholic) finished with seven saves in goal for Gannon, while Kenyon recorded eight saves for Section Hill.

After playing back-to-back games at home the Golden Knights make the short trip to East 38th for a showdown with crosstown rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday, September 21. That match gets underway at 4:00 p.m. The Lakers currently lead the PSAC West with a 5-0-1 record and are 5-1-1 overall.
