WINTER PARK, Fla. – Gannon continued its spring break road trip in Florida on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 7-2 road loss to No. 22 Rollins College at Alfond Stadium in Winter Park.
Rollins put up four runs in the first four innings and added a few more runs late in the game to improve to 11-2 on the young season. The home team was sparked by a home run from Nick Santucci. The Rollins lineup also combined for four doubles. Santucci finished the game by hitting 2-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Second baseman Adams Torres hit 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. He had two doubles.

Jorge Mejia (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose) put the Knights on the board in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to center field. Mejia brought home Ryan Klabfus, who put himself into scoring position with a double to left field two at-bats earlier.
In the top of the fifth with
Luke Callahan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) and
Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) on first and second,
Brandon Wetherholt (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) brought home Vega for the Knights final run of the game on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Statistically, Kalbfus, Mejia and Vega recorded two hits apiece for the Knights. Callahan and
Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) also hit singles for the Knights. Vega recorded two stolen bases.
Benjamin Visnesky (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin Area) (0-1) made the pitching start for the Knights and suffered the defeat after four innings of work. He allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out one. Gannon recorded just two strikeouts on the afternoon.
Gannon (2-2, 0-0 PSAC) will take an off-day on Wednesday, before returning to the diamond on Thursday with a doubleheader against Tiffin (1 p.m.) and Minnesota State-Mankato (4:30 p.m.).
