Dogan Nets 16 As Gannon Drops Road Game at Pitt-Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The 14th-ranked Gannon women's basketball team dropped a 72-53 final at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday afternoon inside the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats shot just under 52 percent from the floor and made 10 3-pointers in the victory.
 
The loss snapped Gannon's four-game winning streak as the Knights fell to 14-3 overall and 9-3 in PSAC play. UPJ is now 8-10 on the season, including 6-6 in league play. Despite being under .500, the Mountain Cats have defeated back-to-back nationally ranked teams with wins over No. 17 Indiana (Pa.) and No. 14 Gannon.
 
Gannon struggled on the offensive end, shooting just 37.3 percent from the floor (19-of-51), including just 2-of-15 from three. The Knights were also plagued by 23 turnovers.
 
Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) led the Golden Knights with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists. Samantha Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) and Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) chipped in nine points apiece for Gannon, while Margo Loutzenhiser (Russell, Pa./Warren Area) dropped in seven points. Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) finished the afternoon with six points and a team-high seven rebounds. Emma Wright (Fairview, Pa./Talawanda) passed out a team-high five assists.
 
Defensively, Gannon forced UPJ into 22 turnovers, including 18 steals. Mitchell, Pirosko and Dogan tallied three steals apiece for the Knights.
 
UPJ shot 56 percent (22-of-39) from the floor through the first three quarters of play on Saturday afternoon, building its lead to as many as 27 with 18 seconds remaining in the third quarter. For the game, the Mountain Cats shot 51.9 percent (27-52) from the floor, 47.6 percent from three (10-of-21) and 88.9 percent from the charity stripe (8-9). Pitt-Johnstown also held a 30-29 rebounding advantage and passed out 19 assists on 27 buckets.
 
UPJ had three double-figure scorers on Saturday, including a team-high 17 points, four rebounds and three steals from Makalyn Clapper. Ashley Norling recorded a double-double for the 'Cats with 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Olivia Fasick also chipped in 16 for UPJ.
 
Gannon will return home on Monday evening to host Slippery Rock at the Hammermill Center. The game will be the first of six in a row in Erie for the Lady Knights – with five of those games to be played at the Hammermill Center. Monday's tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
