Gannon Edged at Seton Hill, 66-60

Emily Poling (#20) scored a career-high 23 points after making seven 3-pointers in the setback.

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Seton Hill rallied early in the second half and outlasted 15th-ranked Gannon, 66-60, on Monday evening in PSAC West action in Greenburg. After trailing by as many as nine early in the second quarter, Seton Hill shot 58 percent from the field in the third quarter and took the lead for good at the 4:42 mark of the third quarter.
 
The loss snaps Gannon's six-game winning streak as the Knights fall to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in PSAC play. Seton Hill improves to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in league play.
 
Gannon's Emily Poling (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) scored a game- and career-high 23 points after going a sizzling 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from behind the arc. Her only miss from behind the arc came as time expired in the fourth quarter. Poling also chipped in three rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block for the Knights. Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) also reached double-figures for the Knights with 10 points to go with seven rebounds and two assists.
 
The Lady Knights also got six points and 10 rebounds from Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex), six points and nine rebounds from Samantha Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) and six points, three assists and two steals from Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough). Emma Wright (Fairview, Pa./Talawanda) scored just four points on the evening, but stepped up in other areas with five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.
 
Dogan, the back-to-back PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week, has now recorded double-digit rebounds in five-consecutive games.
 
Gannon led by as many as nine points early in the second quarter after limiting the Griffins to just eight points in the first 10 minutes of the game. Gannon also took a 27-25 advantage to the locker room at the half.
 
Both teams shot under 40 percent from the floor on Monday evening, with Gannon holding the edge 39.0% to 35.7%. The Golden Knights also held a 40-37 edge on the glass. Seton Hill connected on 20-of-23 attempts from the foul line, compared to just 6-of-10 for Gannon.
 
Seton Hill got a team-high 20 points from Cheyenne Trest in the victory. Christiane Frye added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Katie Nolan finished just shy of a double-double with 11 points and eight boards. Rena Enterline also reached double-figures with 12 points for the Griffins.
 
Gannon came into the game with a 13-5 all-time series lead over Seton Hill, including an 8-1 record in Greensburg. The win was Seton Hill's first in the series since Feb. 6, 2019 – an 83-69 Griffin win at the Hammermill Center.
 
With the postponement of Wednesday's home game against Pitt-Johnstown, Gannon will return to action on Sunday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against nationally ranked IUP. The Crimson Hawks ranked No. 12 in last week's WBCA poll, while receiving votes in last week's D2SIDA poll voting. IUP is currently 10-1 on the season but hasn't played since Dec. 19, 2021.
