Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) sent two out to lift Gannon to 12-11 extra inning victory over Pitt-Johnstown after falling 4-3 in game one on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening frame, Pitt-Johnstown took an 1-0 lead after senior Kristie Radvan singled through the right side to score the runner from third.
- Gannon answered with two runs to take the lead as Jules Ryan (Collegeville, Pa./Spring Ford) led off with an infield base hit before scoring with the help of back-to-back singles by Lea Coffman (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) and Nicole Bush (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic). Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) extended her hitting streak to five with an RBI single up the middle to score Coffman to get the go-ahead lead.
- UPJ leveled the score in the fifth after taking advantage of an error in the infield to make it 2-2.
- The Knights best chance to take back the lead came in the seventh as Ryan singled before advancing to second on a error in left but would be left in scoring position with two consecutive outs. UPG would go down 1-2-3 to head into extra innings.
- The teams traded zeros as the international tiebreaker took effect in the 10th-inning. Gannon attacked first as Lindsay Schmidt (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillian) laid down the sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third before Coffman hit a grounder to short to take a 3-2 lead. The Mountain Cats would even the score before recording the walk-off victory with a single into right.
GAME NOTES
- Game one marks just the second time this season the Golden Knights went to extra innings.
- As a team, Gannon recorded eight hits with three RBI led by Ryan who went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) (11-8) was credited the loss allowing four runs (one earned) on nine hits with six walks and four strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon opened scoring in the first with a three-run homer by Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau). Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) singled into left center before Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) reached on a fielding error to bring DeMatteis to the plate. The senior catcher drove a 1-2 pitch deep and out into right center, taking a 3-0 lead. Pitt-Johnstown answered with three runs with the help of a two-run homer to even the score.
- The Golden Knights rallied six runs in the second to take a 9-3 lead over the Mountain Cats. Nicole Bush (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) came around the bases scoring on a single by Stocker to get the go-ahead lead before another run was walked in. With two outs and a full count, Jules Ryan (Collegeville, Pa./Spring Ford) sent one deep and out to clear the bases for her first collegiate grand slam.
- Three consecutive singles added a run to the board for the Knights before UPJ brought the game within three with the help of four hits in the fourth. The Mountain Cats evened the score 10-10 to go into extra innings.
- Stocker walked to lead off the eighth before Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) put Gannon back on top with a two-run homer into right. Pitt-Johnstown recorded the final run of the game with a solo homer by Stacey Walling but a fly ball into center would end the threat to secure Gannon's 12-11 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Gannon set a new game-high with 12 runs, 15 hits and 12 RBI.
- Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) and Lyndsey Lakatos (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) each went 3-for-4 at the plate with DeMatteis recording six RBI while Ryan tallied five.
- Game two marks the first time DeMatteis hit multiple homers in a single game and fifth in her career.
- Gabi Vasi (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) was credited the start allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on 14 hits through 6.2 innings while Katie Sidare (Rochester, N.Y./Victor Central) completed the game allowing one earned run to earn the victory.

- The Golden Knights will be back at McConnell Family Stadium on Friday afternoon for the series finale with Pitt-Johnstown to close out the regular season before conference tournament play. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2:30 p.m.
- PSAC Championships are scheduled to begin May 5 with the championship game set for May 15.
