HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Knights nearly opened scoring in the fourth minute with a shot by senior Taylor Lewis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) but was denied by keeper Brynn Markley to keep an even score.  Gannon proceeded to put pressure on Clarion's defense as the Golden Knights outshot the Golden Eagles 9-1 but were unable to take hold of a lead.
  • Clarion's best look came in the 41st minute with their only shot of the half by Macy McCarthy but was saved by freshman keeper Morgan Sinan (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) to keep the match scoreless.
  • In the 57th-minute, Laurel Prokopchak (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) found Kayla Bevacqua (Welland, Ontario/Notre Dame) on the right side for the senior to beat the keeper to give Gannon the go ahead 1-0 lead.
  • Gannon looked add to the board with back-to-back attempts by Lewis and Megan McCartney (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) but each were saved by Alexandra Velez.
