Gannon kept applying pressure from there assembling a 7-0 run later in the frame to extend its lead up to 22-9 after back-to-back kills from Lauren Sampson (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). Gannon won the first set, 25-14.

  • Carnegie Mellon fought back in the third frame stealing a 15-14 lead by the midway point. The Tartans then went on a 4-2 run increase their lead up to three, 19-16. Gannon was able to make late surge to come back and grab the edge, 23-21, but Carnegie Mellon closed the frame on a 4-0 run to extend the match, 25-23.
  • After exchanging points to deadlock the contest at 8-8, Gannon used a 6-2 run to establish a 14-9 lead after two kills from Ashley Kerestes (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Lutheran). The Knights began to put the match away from there pushing their lead up to nine, 18-11, following a kill from Madde Blake (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central).
