HOW IT HAPPENED
- After both teams traded points to lock the score at 8-8, Mercyhurst then rattled off six straight points to steal a 14-8 edge. The Lakers won the opening frame, 25-21.
- Gannon pushed back in the second stanza building an 8-3 lead after Lauren Sampson (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) connected on a kill. The Knights then took control increasing their lead up nine, 21-12, following a block from Maggie Greenfield (Woodstock, Ontario/Woodstock Collegiate Institute) and Ashley McClung (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington). Gannon went on to take the set, 25-13.
- The Knights started fast in the third frame with an 11-5 lead after four straight points from Katie Becht (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster). Both teams then exchanged points until Greenfield delivered a momentum swinging kill to make the score 22-18. Gannon won the third set, 25-18.
- Gannon slowly built a 18-14 edge in the fourth set following three unanswered points. Mercyhurst battled its way all the way back to lock the contest, 25-25. From there both teams traded points until Sophia Glabus (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and Maddie Blake notched a block to give Gannon a 29-28 edge. McClung followed it up with a kill to secure the 30-28 set win and to close out the match, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon quickly took control in the second match after six straight points from Lara Toruner (Istanbul, Turkey/Terakki Foundation) to make the score 15-4. The Knights then began to put the first set away as Ashley Kerestes (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Lutheran), who was playing in her first matches of the season, registered a kill to increase the lead to 18-8. Gannon won the first frame, 25-13
- After both teams found themselves deadlocked at 6-6, Gannon used a 9-1 run to build 15-7 lead following a Kaeli Kristensen (Calgary, Alberta/Dr. E.P. Scarlett) service ace. The Knights went on to take the second set, 25-12.
- Gannon closed out the third and final set running out a 17-7 advantage to force a Mercyhurst timeout. The Knights kept their foot on gas as Valeria Torres (Gurabo, Puerto Rico/Notre Dame) connected on three straight aces to stretch the edge to 21-7. Gannon closed the third frame, 25-12, and the match, 3-0.
