McClung, Beyers Lead Gannon to Sweep at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. – For the second time this week, Gannon avenged an early season loss and improved to 24-5 on the season at Edinboro on Friday evening in PSAC West volleyball action at McComb Fieldhouse.

Gannon, who dropped a five-setter to Edinboro back on Oct. 5, won in straight-sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) on Friday to earn its fifth sweep in the last six matches. The Golden Knights were very efficient on the attack during the victory, finishing the evening with 47 kills and just 12 errors (.267 hitting pct.). Gannon also had six aces in the win.

The victory lifts Gannon into first place in the PSAC West with an 11-3 mark. It also improves Gannon's NCAA resume by giving the Lady Knights a win over the No. 3-ranked team in the Atlantic Region.

"Tonight, we used great team play to get a win over a tough team," Gannon head volleyball coach Matt Darling said. "Everyone did her job. (Ashley) Beyers set a smart match, and (Ashley) McClung and the middles scored a bunch of points. Finally, a shout out to Madde (Blake) for stepping up and filling a big role tonight."
