ERIE, Pa. – Long-time head coach Don Henry begins his 38th year in charge of the Gannon men's wrestling program as his Golden Knights debut in 2021-22 at the Mount Union Invitational. The action gest underway at 10 a.m. at the Peterson Field House and continues throughout the day.

In addition to Gannon and host Mount Union, the expected field for the Mount Union Invitational includes Ashland, Baldwin Wallace, Brewton-Parker, Hiram, Mount St. Joseph, Ohio Northern, Penn State Behrend, SUNY Brockport, and West Liberty.  

Henry's 38th edition is ranked eighth in the 2021-2022 NWCA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll. Eight Golden Knight wrestlers appear in the individual weight classes, led by Alex Farenchak's (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) number one ranking at 165 pounds. Nick Young (Batavia, N.Y./Alexander) is ranked seventh at 157 lbs. and Jacob Dunlop (Rostraver Township, Pa./Belle Vernon) is ninth at 125 lbs.
 
In addition, Austin Hertel (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) enters the season ranked eighth at 141 lbs., while Joel Leise (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) and Freddie Nixon (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) are ninth at 197 lbs. and heavyweight, respectively. Cameron Page (Frewsburg, N.Y./Falconer Central) is ranked 11th at 184 lbs. and Dom Means (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) comes in ranked 12th at 149 lbs.
 
A year ago, Gannon finished ninth at the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championships held in March. Three Golden Knight grapplers earned All-American honors, with Farenchak finishing as the runner-up at 165 lbs., Young placing sixth at 157 lbs., and Dunlop coming in eighth at 133 lbs.
 
A total of 24 wrestlers will compete for the Golden Knights at the Mount Union Invitational. They include:
