THE GANNON-CAL SERIES
- Gannon leads all-time series 24-19 (including seven in a row dating back to the 2016 season)
- Cal U's last win in the series came on Oct. 14. 2016 at the Hammermill Center, a 3-1 Vulcan victory.
 
ERIE, Pa. – Gannon volleyball, the top seed in the PSAC's western division, will opens conference tournament play on Tuesday night when fourth-seeded California (Pa.) comes to town for a rematch of Saturday's regular season finale.
 
The winner of the Gannon-Cal U match will advance to the semifinals to meet the winner of the Shepherd-West Chester match from the PSAC East quarterfinals.
 
The other side of the bracket features (#1E) East Stroudsburg vs. (#4E) Bloomsburg and (#2W) Edinboro vs. (#3W) Clarion. The top seeds host the quarterfinal matches, while the top remaining seed in the PSAC East will host the semifinals and finals.
 
Gannon swept the season home-and-home with Cal U, picking up a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-11, 25-17) on the road back on Oct. 15, and also earned a sweep (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) just three days ago in the regular season finale for both teams at the Hammermill Center. During Saturday's senior day win, senior right hitter Ashley McClung (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) became the 19^th player in Gannon volleyball history to surpass the 1,000-kill milestone. McClung recorded seven kills against the Vulcans on Saturday and now has 1,003 in her GU career.
 
During last Friday sweep over Slippery Rock, Gannon's senior setter Ashley Beyers (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) set the Gannon volleyball record for career assists and now has 4,307 assists in her four years as a Golden Knight. Beyers broke Megan Wendel's record (4,244) that had stood since the 2014 season.
 
Gannon comes into Tuesday's match winners of 11 of its last 12 matches.
 
PSAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Gannon has advanced to the PSAC Championship match three times in the last four years, last winning the PSAC Tournament back in 2016. The Golden Knights finished as tournament runner-up in 2017 and 2018 and advanced to the semifinals in 2019. Gannon won the PSAC Tournament in 2012 and 2016.
 
ATLANTIC REGION RANKINGS
Gannon ranked No. 3 in the second set of NCAA Atlantic Region rankings that were released by the NCAA last Wednesday. The Golden Knights were one of six PSAC schools to appear in the rankings this week. Shepherd is currently 2^nd, Gannon 3^rd, Edinboro 4^th, Clarion 5^th, East Stroudsburg 7^th and West Chester 8^th. One more set of NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings will be released tomorrow afternoon, before final NCAA selections are announced next Monday.
