KEY SEQUENCE
  • Locked in for an extended stretch that allowed them to score three times, the Knights held Lock Haven scoreless for over 13 minutes to cut the deficit to 11-9 with 10 minutes to play. The Bald Eagles stuffed two free position attempts on the next possession though, and went on to score the final two goals of the game to hold on.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) got the Knights on the board first, cutting in from the left side just over a minute in. Lock Haven evened it up a few minutes later, but Gannon responded nearly immediately, with Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) putting the hosts back on top 2-1. Lock Haven went on a run from there though, netting three straight goals over the next five minutes.
  • Maddie Krock (Granville, Ohio/Granville) notched a free-position finish to get the Knights back to within one with 19 minutes to go in the opening half. Lock Haven scored next, but Rotondo made it 5-4, capping a counter attack after a save by Cheyenne Jess (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) on a free position on the other end.
  • The scoring slowed down over the final half of the opening period. Gannon pulled to within two on a tally from Courtney Young (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) with 11 minutes to go. Rotondo had the only shot over the next eight minutes, but it was stopped by LHU. In a flurry of action in front of the net with a minute to play, the Bald Eagles got another goal to make it 8-5 at the break.
  • Lock Haven built its largest lead of the game with a goal two and a half minutes out of the intermission, and while Amberlynn Kegler (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) finished off a pass from Young two minutes later, LHU bumped it right back to a four-goal margin at 10-6.
  • That lead pushed out to five at 11-6 with over 21 minutes left to play, but the Gannon defense began to lock down from there. The Knights didn't even allow a shot over a span of 13 minutes, and got a pair of goals from Tufts around one from Alli Jacobs (Eden, N.Y./Eden) to slice it to two goals with 10:30 to go.
  • Gannon won the next draw, and got two free position attempts in a row. The Bald Eagles didn't allow a shot on the first, and LHU goalie Lauren Girardi stopped Tufts on the second. Braxtin Reddinger converted a long possession on the other end to give Lock Haven a 12-9 lead, and the guests held on the rest of the way.
