HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter alone saw seven lead changes setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) fired the first shot for the Knights connecting from the arc to give Gannon a 3-2 edge early. Jordan Hertz and Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) were the next two players to exchange baskets forcing another two lead changes. Midway through the first, the Warriors used a 6-0 run to take a five point lead over the Knights. Five straight free throws for Obenrader and Rourke would tie the game 12-12 after one quarter.
- Obenrader scored at the 9:36 mark to take a two-point lead, which was quickly narrowed to one point after a good free throw from Tiffany Lapotsky. Both teams were scoreless over the next three minutes with Lapotsky finally hitting a jumper at the 5:58 mark. Obenrader scored seven more points in the final minutes of the half, while baskets from Emil Poling, Rourke, and McKinney led Gannon to a 28-24 lead at halftime.
- The third quartered looked a lot like the second with both teams scoring out of the break. From the 8:34 mark to the 5:30 mark, the only points scored were from the East Stroudsburg foul line. Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) broke the scoreless streak for the Knight with a layup with 5:10 left on the clock. A Pair of free throws from Obenrader following Mitchell's layup gave Gannon a three-point edge which was quickly erased from the arc as Sadie Cresswell knocked down a shot. McKinney and Rourke each drove in for a layup to tie the game 38-38 to end the third.
- Four more lead changes in the fourth quarter kept fans on the edge of their seats as the Knights battled for their fourth straight win. Obenrader hit a three with 5:31 left in the game sparking a 7-0 run. McKinney made it a five point game before Lapotsky broke the run with a three pointer. The Warriors got within one after Kaitlyn Swint drove in for a layup at the 1:03 mark. On the other end of the floor, Rourke would seal the deal with a three point play after Tewes found her in the paint. Rourke connected on another two free throws, while Obenrader made one in the final eight seconds and Gannon took a 57-51 win over East Stroudsburg.
