  • The Short Story: Four Knights hit double figures in scoring to help Gannon take down East Stroudsburg, 61-48, on Saturday afternoon. Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) each tallied 14 points to lead all scorers, while Kevin Dodds (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) registered his first-career double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points.
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights came out shooting opening up an 8-3 edge after Chris Clancy (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) buried a three at the 16:15 mark. The Warriors then battled their way back with the use of a full court pressure defense to lock the game, 11-11. Gannon responded with six unanswered points to make the score 17-11 with 7:52 on the clock. Webb fueled the run with four points, while Michael Tertsea (Benue State, Nigeria/John Carroll) added a dunk.
  • The Warriors capitalized on Gannon turnovers to pull back within two, 19-17. Gannon went on to close the half on an 8-3 run to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room. Webb paced all scorers at the break with eight points to go along with two steals, one assist and one rebound.
  • Gannon opened the second frame hitting on its first two possessions to increase its lead to nine, 31-22, after a Johnson layup. Coming out of the media timeout, the Knights rattled off seven straight points to stretch their lead into double figures, 38-28, after a Dodds jumper.
  • Gannon then started to control the pace growing its largest lead of the game, 55-39, after Johnson netted a pair of free throws. East Stroudsburg made one last push with a 6-0 run to cut the edge down to 10, 55-45, with 1:58 to play. However, Gannon closed out the remaining time shooting six-of-six from the free throw line to earn the win, 61-48.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon hauled in 39 rebounds as a team, including 26 on the defensive end.
  • The Knights shot 19-of-49 from the field and 20-of-24 from the free throw line.
  • Gannon totaled 10 steals as a team.
  • The Knights scored 28 points in the paint.
  • Gannon improves to 4-2 this season when four players reach double digits in scoring.
  • Dodds tallied his first-career double-double with a career-high 11 rebounds and 11 points. He shot five-of-six from the field and added one steal.
  • Johnson logged a career-high 36 minutes and posted game-high 14 points with five rebounds, four assists and one steal.
  • Webb also netted a game-high 14 points with four rebounds, a game-high three steals and one assist. He shot 100 percent from the free throw line knocking down a career-high 10 free throws. It also marked his 11th double digit scoring performance of the season.
  • Tertsea reached double figures in scoring the second time this season with a career-high 11 points. He also chipped in seven rebounds and one block.
