HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon took hold of Wednesday's contest in the first quarter. Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) scored just a minute into the action to give the Knights their first lead. Yasmin Lewis responded with a jumper for Clarion on the next possession to tie the game 2-2. Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) scored at the 8:20 mark giving the Knights a permanent lead for the remainder of the game. Gannon strung together two separate 8-0 runs over Clarion to lead 18-6 after the first.
- The first minute of the second quarter was quiet on the scoring front until Rourke drove in for layup at the 8:39 mark. She scored a little over a minute later followed by a three pointer from Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) giving the Knights a 20-point edge. Obenrader scored at the 4:32 mark to keep Gannon's lead at 20 points, but Clarion outscored Gannon 13-7 to close the half and narrow Gannon's lead, 35-22.
- Yndiah Bobo hit a jumper for the Golden Eagles at the 8:17 mark in the third quarter to get Clarion within nine points. This would be the closest the Golden Eagles would get since tying the game 2-2 in the first two minutes. Obenrader went off in the remainder of the quarter to score 16 of Gannon's 21 points as the Knights led 56-38 to enter the fourth.
- The Knights took their largest lead three minutes into the fourth on a free throw by Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough). Being down by 21 points, Emily Brown and Celeste Ryman knocked down back-to-back threes for the Golden Eagles in an attempt to chip away at Gannon's lead. Emily Poling (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) hit two consecutive shots in the final two minutes leading the Knights to a 75-55 win over Clarion.
