GANNON TEAM NOTES
  • The Lady Knights clinched their third consecutive regular season PSAC Western Division title last Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Slippery Rock.
  • Gannon finished with a 14-6 conference record.
  • Gannon is making its ninth straight trip to the PSAC Tournament after winning the championship in 2018 for the first time in program history.
  • The Lady Knights have the fourth-lowest ERA in the conference at 2.61. Junior Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) has won nine straight decisions for a 14-5 record, including six shutouts, to go with a 2.16 ERA and 86 strikeouts. Sophomore Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) stands with an 8-5 record and a 2.86 ERA.  
  • The GU pitching unit has held its opposition to a .256 batting average, which is the fifth-lowest in the PSAC.
  • As a team, Gannon is batting .303, led by junior Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area), who is hitting .380 with team-highs in hits (49) and runs (22).
  • The Lady Knights rank second in the conference in slugging percentage at .489 and second in home runs with 35.
  • Junior Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) sits just behind Ingerick with a .364 batting average, 39 hits, six homers and 22 RBI, while junior Taylor Wilp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) (.337) has a team-high 13 doubles. 
  • Sophomore Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe), who set Gannon's single-season home run record last spring, has a team-high nine homers and 27 RBI this year.
  • Rachel Tanilli (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) leads the team in stolen bases with eight. 
  • In contrast, the Lady Knights have only surrendered 13 home runs, which is the third-least in the conference.
  • Gannon is 5-3 all-time against Mansfield.
  • The Lady Knights last met the Mounties in the second round of the 2014 PSAC Tournament. Gannon rallied for a 3-2 walk-off victory in the ninth.
 
UP NEXT
  • The winner of the PSAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA regional tournament running May 9-11.
