KEY SEQUENCE
  • Gannon grabbed two quick scores to cut into a deficit with 10 minutes left in the opening half, but Bloomsburg counted with a score off the next draw, and closed the half on a 6-1 run to build an eight-goal lead at the break.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Haylee Tatar (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier) got the scoring started after a Bloom turnover, stuffing home a feed from Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) just over a minute in to give Gannon an early lead. The Huskies answered quickly though, grabbing the ensuing draw and tying it up 38 seconds later. A couple Gannon turnovers gave the hosts another pair of chances, and they went up 3-1 five minutes in.
  • Tufts dished out another helper at the 24:23 mark, with Kayla Shields (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) finishing it off to pull Gannon back to within a goal. Bloom went on another run though, netting the next four scores to pull ahead 7-2 as the half passed the midway mark.
  • More impact from Tufts came in two straight draw controls for the freshman, and Jessica Hudak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) and Shields made both count as the Knights jumped back into it to trail just 7-4 with 10:18 left in the period. The Huskies followed that with a quick response, and after a short lull, four goals in a span of three minutes made it 12-4.
  • Tufts found the back of the net inside the final minute of the half, but Bloom added another to hold a 13-5 edge heading into the intermission. The Huskies kept the pressure up early in the second half, popping in three quick goals in just over a minute to make it 14-3, and controlled possession over much of the next 18 minutes to slowly build that lead to 22-5.
  • Gannon closed the game with a strong finish, getting a score from Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) on a Maura McCabe (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) assist to snap the Bloom streak. Tufts then pocketed two straight unassisted tallies to add to the score in the last five minutes.

GAME NOTES
  • Renwick stopped 10 shots in the final game of the season for Gannon. That made for 10 straight games with double-digit stops for the sophomore, and also established a new single-season program record with 188 saves.
  • Tufts put together a strong finish to her freshman campaign, leading the Lady Knights with three goals and two assists. Her three scores came on just three shots, and she totaled five points for the fourth time this season. Tufts also smashed a career high with eight draw controls.
  • Shields closed her Gannon career with a solid performance, netting two goals, four ground balls, and a caused turnover. The four ground balls set a new career-high for the senior.
