KEY SEQUENCE
  • A conference matchup that featured plenty of offensive fireworks throughout ultimately turned in favor of Lock Haven when Rayah Fink and Rileigh Devine converted three-pointers at the 7:28 and 6:55 mark in the fourth quarter. Despite the visitors taking the lead earlier in the frame, the flurry of baskets handed a surging Lock Haven squad, winners of six consecutive games, a five-point advantage at 63-58.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) raced ahead for a fastbreak layup off a pass from Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) to put Gannon up 4-2 early, but LHU countered with the next seven points for a 9-4 lead at the 6:10 mark of the opening quarter. Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) worked inside for a layup at 2:38 to give the Lady Knights their final lead of the quarter (12-11) before an 8-3 run from the Bald Eagles closed the first frame.
  • Elise Torrence (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) continued her offensive production off the bench for the Lady Knights with a layup at the 6:35 mark in the second quarter, cutting the Gannon deficit to four at 24-20. Following a few empty possessions for both teams, Lock Haven jumped ahead by eight (30-22) after Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh rattled home a three with 3:26 left in the half.
  • Obenrader responded with a three of her own just over one minute later and Mitchell notched the final basket of the first half off an outlet pass from Rourke at 1:07 as the hosts trailed 33-29 at intermission.
  • Layups from Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and Mitchell at 8:48 and 8:15 in the third quarter highlighted a quick start for the Lady Knights in the second half. The scores tied the game at 35 and Mitchell eventually handed Gannon the lead, 39-37, with a pair of foul shots at the 6:49 mark. That proved to foreshadow things to come, as the teams racked up nine total points from the foul line over the next 3:41 of game action. A pair of free throws from Rourke extended the Gannon lead to three points (48-45) with 3:08 left in the third.
  • Rourke carved inside for a bucket at 1:59 to put Gannon ahead 52-47 in the third and despite a 6-2 outburst from the Bald Eagles to close the frame, Gannon held a narrow 54-53 advantage through three quarters.
  • Lock Haven regained the lead just over 30 seconds into the fourth quarter and did not relinquish it, fending off several comeback attempts from the Lady Knights. A three-pointer from Ivana Twumasi (Jane and Finch, Ontario/Central Tech) cut the deficit to just two at 6:11 and a layup from LaCava brought Gannon to within three (73-70) with 1:29 remaining, but the Bald Eagles converted five of their last seven foul shots.

GAME NOTES
  • Despite scoring contributions from nine different players, Gannon has just two individuals finish in double figures. Rourke paced the Lady Knights with a game-high 19 points while LaCava added 16.
  • Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) dished out a season-high three assists. She added six points and six rebounds in 25 minutes for the Lady Knights.
  • LHU cashed in on 20 points off turnovers and also doubled up the Lady Knights in second chance points.
  • The Lady Knights had a season-low in steals with three. Lock Haven committed 15 turnovers in the game, the third lowest number for a Gannon opponent this season.
  • Led by a 7-for-8 performance at the line from Rourke, Gannon shot a season-best 85% (17-for-20) at the charity stripe.
  • Twumasi contributed a career-high seven points in just 13 minutes off the bench.
  • Gannon was 4-0 this season when scoring above 70 points entering today's game.
  • Along with Bloomsburg and Shippensburg, Lock Haven is one of three PSAC East schools with an unblemished mark in conference play.
