The Short Story: The Gannon women's soccer team ended the 2018 season on a high-note as the Lady Knights knocked off the 22nd-ranked Millersville Marauders Saturday night, 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Amberlynn Kegler (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) celebrated her Senior Night by scoring the first goal of the game in the 16th minute. Hannah Hays (Butler, Pa./Butler) sent a crossing pass into the box that was mishandled by the Millersville goalkeeper and Kegler capitalized on the error by sneaking past for her second career goal.
Aesling McCullough (Moon, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) added to Gannon's lead in the 28th minute when she back-footed a pass that Hays sent sailing into the box. Emily Cekella (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) was also credited with an assist as she as she put a put on Hays' crossing pass.
Cekella scored a goal of her own in the 36th minute when she collected a loose ball in the box following Taylor Lewis' (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) shot on goal.
Cekella capped the scoring in the 71st minute with her second goal of the game and fourth of the season. McCullough sent a long pass ahead to Cekella to pick up the assist.

GAME NOTES

Cekella led Gannon in scoring with five points on two goals and an assist.
Kegler and McCullough also scored goals for the Lady Knights.
Hays was credited with two assists, while Lewis and McCullough joined Cekella with one apiece.
Hannah Pufpaff (Buffalo, N.Y./Saint Mary's) made five saves in 73 minutes in goal. Kennedy Solymosi (Eastlake, Ohio/Lake Catholic) was credited with one save during the remaining 17 minutes of action.
Millersville outshot Gannon, 13-10.
Gannon recorded two corner kicks, while Millersville had one.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

Saturday was the first five-point game of Cekella's career.
Cekella finishes her junior year with 32 career points, which ranks 21st all-time at Gannon.
Lewis' seventh assist of the season brings her career point total to 87, which ranks fourth in Gannon history.
Lewis will enter her senior season ranked third in goals with 35 and sixth in assists with 17.
Gannon held Millersville's Kay Liebl, who leads the PSAC in scoring (39), to just three shots.
Saturday was Gannon's sixth shutout of the season.
Kegler, Nicole Felice (Cleveland, Ohio/Laurel School) and Rachel Grubbs (Avella, Pa./Madonna) were honored during a Senior Night ceremony prior to the match.
