GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither team was able to muster more than a three-point lead during the opening seven minutes.
  • Trailing 11-8, Gannon exploded for 12 consecutive points to assume control. A Phoenix jumper and three-pointer from senior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside) pushed the Golden Knights in front. Five different Gannon players scored during the 12-0 run.
  • Seton Hill momentarily stopped the run with a free throw, but Gannon countered with eight more points. Jackson netted four of the eight points, including a three-pointer that pushed the home team's lead to 28-12 with 6:16 remaining in the first half.
  • The Gannon defense held Seton Hill without a field goal for 11 minutes and 40 seconds during the 20-1 blitz.
  • However, the Griffins got things rolling once they hit a field goal. Milenko Predic's lay-up at the 4:14 mark was the start of 12 straight points to end the half, cutting the Golden Knights lead to 28-24 at the break.
  • Seton Hill turned the tables by holding Gannon without a point for the final six minutes and 16 seconds of the first half.
  • Gannon opened leads of seven and eight points during the first five minutes of the second half, but Seton Hill used a 9-0 blitz to turn a seven-point deficit into a 41-39 lead on Predic's triple at the 14:16 mark.
  • The Golden Knights countered immediately with a 14-0 bombing. Phoenix and Green accounted for all 14 points, including nine straight from Green at one point. Meanwhile, the Gannon defense was at it again, holding the Griffins scoreless for four minutes and two seconds. A Phoenix free throw capped the run, giving the home squad a 53-41 lead midway through the final stanza.
  • Seton Hill managed to cut the deficit to single digits only one more time, but Green drilled a three-pointer 13 seconds later.
  • Gannon maintained a double-digit advantage for the final seven minutes, before coasting to a 75-60 victory.
  • The Golden Knights held a game-high 17-point lead on four different occasions during the final six minutes and seven seconds.

GAME NOTES
  • Phoenix led the Gannon offensive unit for the fourth time this season with 22 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes, hitting 10-of-14 shots.
  • Green erupted for 21 second-half points after being held scoreless during the first 20 minutes. He added four rebounds, three assists and two steals while finishing 7-of-12 overall and 4-of-6 from long range.
  • Gannon shot 43.9 percent (29-66) from the field, 43.8 percent (7-16) from three-point range and 66.7 percent (10-15) from the free throw line.
  • Four of Seton Hill's five starters reached double digits in scoring, topped by Nathan Davis' 13 points.
  • Trevor Blondin and Trevor Lecuona added 12 points each.
  • Predic completed the double-digit foursome with 10 points.
  • Seton Hill shot 47.9 percent (23-48) from the floor, 37.5 percent (6-16) from behind the arc and 72.7 percent (8-11) from the charity stripe.
  • Gannon out-rebounded Seton Hill 37-29, including a 17-7 edge on the offensive glass that led to a 17-7 advantage in second-chance points.
  • The Golden Knights topped the Griffins in points off turnovers (20-6), fast-break points (12-2) and bench points (13-4).
  • Gannon dished out 20 assists compared to only seven turnovers. Nine different Golden Knights recorded an assist.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon returned home for the first time since an 88-63 victory against Notre Dame (Ohio) at the Hammermill Center on December 19, a span of 20 days.
  • The Golden Knights completed a season-opening 13-game stretch that included only five home contests last Saturday, marking only the second time that has happened in the 74-year history of the program. Only the 1945-46 team played five home games or fewer during its first 13 games.
  • Head coach John T. Reilly earned his 450th career victory with Monday's decision, becoming the 24th active NCAA Division II coach to reach the 450-win plateau.
  • Gannon improved to 7-1 when leading at halftime and 7-1 when reaching the 70-point plateau.
  • The Golden Knights held their opponent under 70 points for the 13th consecutive game.
  • Gannon out-rebounded its opponent for the seventh straight contest and 13th time in 14 games.
  • Green entered Monday's game with six three-pointers this season, before draining four during the second half.
  • Gannon's three point guards - sophomore Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson), redshirt sophomore Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) and freshman Devin Smith (Baltimore, Md./Newtown) - combined for 12 points, seven assists and only one turnover in 40 minutes.
  • The Golden Knights won their season-best fifth consecutive game overall while extending their home win streak to five. It represents the program's longest home win streak since winning the final six home contests of the 2014-15 campaign.
  • Gannon's seven turnovers were its fewest since committing only seven against Le Moyne at the Hammermill Center on November 29, 2013.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon only has one day to prepare for rival Edinboro on Wednesday, January 10 at the Hammermill Center.
  • The finale of a quick two-game homestand is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
  • Edinboro has won three of its last four contests against Gannon, cutting its deficit in the all-time series to 67-38.
  • The two programs split last year's season series with each winning on the road.
  • The Fighting Scots have won the last two games played at the Hammermill Center, but the Golden Knights still hold a 37-15 lead in downtown Erie.
