  • The Short Story: The Gannon women's lacrosse team out-scored Millersville 7-6 during the second half, but was unable to overcome a 7-2 halftime deficit before closing out the 2017 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 13-9 setback at Millersville.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Millersville came out of the gates on fire with six consecutive goals.
  • Gannon scored its first goal 23 minutes and 19 seconds into the contest, denting the scoreboard with sophomore Kat Martinelli (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern)'s unassisted score.
  • After Millersville scored on a free-position attempt, sophomore Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) produced an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 7-2 at halftime.
  • Gannon and Millersville played the final 30 minutes on even terms. The Lady Knights generated four of the first six goals of the second half. Senior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and junior Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) accounted for the first two. Bower later had back-to-back unassisted scores to claw within 9-6 at the 22:33 mark.
  • With Millersville leading 10-6, both teams netted three goals during the final 19 minutes.
  • Bower added another unassisted goal with 1:31 remaining, drawing an end to the scoring with her fifth score of the afternoon.
