The Gannon Lady Knights swept all four of their matches in the Tony Banner Invitational hosted by Clarion University.
On Saturday, Sept. 3, Gannon defeated Merrimack 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 25-13) and Hillsdale 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-18).
In game one the Lady Knights dominated Merrimack in sets three and four. Gannon cruised to a set of 25-13 victories after splitting the first two sets with the Warriors.
Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio /Solon) led Gannon with 17 kills while adding three blocks against Merrimack.
In game two the Lady Knights handed Hillsdale its first loss of the season.
Gannon squeaked past Hillsdale in set one by a 27-25 decision and kept that momentum throughout the match.
Tied 5-5 in set three the Lady Knights went on a 9-2 run to go up 14-7 where they maintained that gap and sealed a 25-18 set three victory.
Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio /Solon) led the Lady Knights again with nine kills.
Anne-Mari Kaur (Tallinn, Estonia/Tallinn Lillekula Upper Secondary School) posted nine block assists in the game, a new career-high.
Gannon improves to 4-0 on the season. Hillsdale dropped to 2-1 and Merrimack fell to 0-3.
Gannon will next host a crossover tournament between the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the Mountain East Conference beginning Friday, Sept. 9. The Lady Knights kick off the tournament playing Concord at 1 P.M. The tournament runs through Saturday, Sept. 10.
