Mourchid Connects on Four Goals as Gannon Takes Down Daemen, 8-1.

THE RUNDOWN
  • Final Score: Gannon 8, Daemen 1
  • Records: Gannon (3-1-1), Daemen (1-5)
  • Location: Amherst, N.Y. – Park School Field
  • The Short Story: Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet) and the Gannon Golden Knights tore up the Daemen Wildcats' defense on Tuesday (Sept. 13). Mourchid collected four goals as Gannon muscled its way to a 8-1 victory.
     
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mourchid scored the contest's first goal after slashing through the middle of the Daemen defense and taking aim at the botom left corner of the net.
  • Mourchid made the score 2-0 in the 3rd minute after a successful penalty kick.
  • In the 23rd minute Mourchid scored his third goal of the match faking out the keeper and finding net.
  • Mourchid scored his fourth and final goal of the match in the 61st minute.  
  • Freshman Alex Schroeck (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) added a goal of his own in the 65th minute with a ball that got past the goalkeepers dive.
  • Daemen got on the board in the 74th minute when Colin Edwards snuck a ball through the Golden Knight defense.
  • Mathias Krigbaum (Greve, Denmark/Greve Gymnasium) got his name in the scoring column just 27 seconds after the Daemen goal in the 74th minute.
  • De Bonis Encinoso added two goals to close out the game in the 87th and 89th minutes.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon is ranked fifth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic regional rankings.
  • The Golden Knights are receiving votes in the NSCAA top 25 rankings.
  • After Mourchid's four goal performance, he sits as the NCAA Division II men's soccer leader in season goals (8).
  • The Golden Knights held advantages in shots (30-10) and corner kicks (5-4).
     
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon has won three of its first five contests for the first time since the 2012 season.
