GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon wasted little putting the pressure on Indiana (Pa.). Lewis scored off an assist from sophomore Kelsey O'Connor (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) 3:20 into the contest for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Lady Knights held the one-goal lead until midway through the second half. IUP controlled the opening portion of the second half, out-shooting Gannon 7-2 when the Crimson Hawks got the tying goal in the 67th minute. Lexie Palluconi took a crossing pass from McKenna Keffel in the left side of the box and buried a shot into the upper left corner of the net.
  • However, Gannon needed only 96 seconds to regain the lead. This time Lewis placed a perfect shot from 20 yards out on the right side over a leaping IUP goalkeeper and into the upper left corner.
  • Indiana (Pa.) turned the pressure back up and threatened several times down the stretch. The Crimson Hawks' best chance to tie the contest came with less than two minutes left in regulation when Kiersten Zerbe was able to get past the last defender. Senior goalkeeper Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario /Notre Dame C.S.S.) came to the top of the box and knocked away a shot coming off Zerbe's foot.
  • The Crimson Hawks were never able to get another shot off the rest of the way, before Gannon secured a 2-1 victory.

GAME NOTES
  • Tuesday's contest was played in perfect weather conditions with sunny skies and the game time temperature in the 80's.
  • Indiana (Pa.) won the statistical game with advantages in shots (17-12), corner kicks (6-3) and fewest fouls (14-10).
  • Lewis accounted for both Gannon goals while O'Connor and true freshman Emily Cekella (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) dished out assists.
  • Senior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario /Notre Dame C.S.S.) played all 90 minutes in goal, making a career-high 11 saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon won its 15th consecutive regular-season home match dating back to last season.
  • Differ continued to add to her program record for career goalkeeper victories with her 27th.
  • Gannon was out-shot for the third consecutive match after out-shooting its previous 18 opponents dating back to last season.
  • Differ is the first Gannon goalkeeper to play all 90 minutes this season.
  • Lewis is the second Lady Knight to record multiple goals in a match this season after sophomore Nicole Felice (Cleveland, Ohio/Laurel School) netted three scores during the season opener at Walsh.
  • Both O'Connor and Cekella dished out their first career assists.
  • Differ's 11 saves were the most by a Lady Knight since Sarah Geffel had 16 during a 1-0 victory against West Chester at McConnell Family Stadium on September 14, 2013.
  • Gannon defeated IUP for the fifth consecutive time, cutting the Crimson Hawks' lead in the all-time series to 13-11-1.
