HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After trading baskets for the opening four minutes, Gannon produced the first lengthy run of the afternoon. The Golden Knights erased an 8-5 deficit with 14 consecutive points to assume a 19-8 lead with 12:59 left in the first half.
  • Four different Golden Knights scored during the blitz. Junior Damon Miraud (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) and sophomore Evan Phoenix (Stevensville, Md./Calvert Hall) netted four points each. Senior Matthew Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) and junior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside) added three-pointers.
  • East Stroudsburg climbed within one point twice later in the half, but Gannon extended its lead both times.
  • The visitors momentarily grabbed a 43-42 advantage on Nick Giordano's triple at the 1:41 mark, before Jackson answered with a three-pointer while being fouled 21 seconds later.
  • Gannon added a lay-up by junior Gerrell Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview) and two free throws from Jackson to assume a 50-43 lead at the break.
  • The Golden Knights opened the second half with another Jackson three-pointer and Phoenix lay-up for their biggest lead of the afternoon at 55-43.
  • East Stroudsburg slowly chipped away at the lead with its up-tempo full-court style. A 12-4 run brought the Warriors within 62-60 at the 13:13 mark.
  • The visitors drew even at 66 following Ralik Wise's triple with 11:36 to play, but Gannon answered with a Phoenix jumper and Jackson free throw.
  • The Golden Knights' last lead came at 75-74 after Phoenix converted a free throw with 6:40 remaining.
  • East Stroudsburg then forged ahead for good with Rasheed Moore's three-pointer and Quindell Brice's jumper.
  • The Warriors' lead grew to 88-79, before freshman Jimmy Berger (Medina, Ohio/Saint Ignatius)'s lay-up capped the scoring.
