ERIE, Pa. - On Saturday (Nov. 12) the Gannon Lady Knights took on the Edinboro Fighting Scots in a pivotal final match of the 2016 regular season. With a win, the Lady Knights could clinch the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Northwest Division Championship and capture the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. With an Edinboro victory, the Fighting Scots could capture the same prizes.
In the match, Gannon won the first set and kept the momentum rolling. The Lady Knights defeated the Fighting Scots in a quick three sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-15.
The Lady Knights also defeated the Fighting Scots on October 21, after rallying from two sets down to take the victory, 3-2.
Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio /Solon) recorded a team-high 18 kills alongside a .500 hitting percentage on Saturday.
Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) aided the Lady Knights with 15 kills, seven blocks and a .538 hitting percentage.
The Lady Knights had a .429 hitting percentage as a team in the match. The .429 hitting percentage was the sixth highest in a conference match this season.
Lauren Beck (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) also moved into sole possession of third place in career blocks at Gannon with 310 blocks.
Gannon won its 10
th match in-a-row and is 27-3 overall. They also improved to 16-2 in the conference. Lady Knights are the 2016 PSAC regular season champion.
Edinboro dropped to 23-7 overall and 15-3 in the conference.
The top-seed Lady Knights will play the No. 8-seed West Chester Golden Rams in the PSAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 15, at the Hammermill Center at 7 p.m. If the Lady Knights win, the PSAC final four will be at Gannon on Friday and Saturday.
