HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Indiana (Pa.) took the opening kickoff and marched 76 yards on six plays in 2:19 for an early 7-0 lead. Lenny Williams' 53-yard run on the second play from scrimmage set the tone.
  • Gannon then received great field possession after true freshman Clay McDonald (Valley Grove, W.Va./Wheeling Park) returned a short kickoff 24 yards to the 47-yard line. Seven plays later, Holland booted a school-record 51-yard field goal in what turned out to be the home team's only points of the afternoon.
  • Indiana (Pa.) responded with a five-play, 61-yard touchdown drive that used only 99 seconds to assume a 14-3 lead.
  • The Crimson Hawks added another touchdown before the first quarter ended and three more touchdowns during the second frame to grab a 42-3 advantage at the intermission.
  • Only six points were scored during the second half. Those came on an IUP touchdown with 5:21 to play. Senior Nathan Adams (Crozier, Va./Goochland) was able to block the extra point to account for the final 48-3 score.
  • Gannon reached the red zone twice during the second half, but the possessions ended with a turnover on downs and fumble.

GAME NOTES
  • Indiana (Pa.) produced advantages in first downs (25-19), rushing yards (284-133), passing yards (224-193), total yards (508-326) and time of possession (34:15-25:45).
  • Both teams were successful on third down. The Golden Knights converted 6-of-11 opportunities while the Crimson Hawks finished 6-of-10.
  • IUP held the ball for 21 minutes and 48 seconds of the second half's 30 total minutes.
  • Four Golden Knights rushed for 20 yards or more, led by redshirt senior Tyler Johnson (North East, Pa./North East)'s 68 yards on 11 carries.
  • Redshirt sophomore Zach Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) finished 15-of-25 for 175 yards through the air.
  • True freshman Jacardi Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) was the top target, hauling in six passes for 70 yards.
  • Three Golden Knights reached double digits in tackles as the team piled up 91 stops.
  • Redshirt senior Christian Carpenter (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) led the way with 17 tackles.
  • Sophomore Anthony Howard (Temple Hills, Md./Bishop O'Connell) followed with 15 stops, 2.5 tackles for a loss and one sack.
  • Senior Mike Zanders II (Charlotte, N.C./Hopewell) completed the trio of double-digit tacklers with 12 stops.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Rain was forecasted throughout the day, but the entire game was played in dry conditions.
  • Indiana (Pa.) is ranked No. 12 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Poll and No. 5 in the NCAA Division II Super Region One rankings.
  • Gannon dropped its ninth consecutive game against a nationally-ranked opponent. The Golden Knights' last victory against a top-25 team came November 5, 2011 with a 33-27 home victory against then 14th-ranked Slippery Rock.
  • Holland broke a school record with his 51-yard field goal during the first quarter, eclipsing the previous mark of 50 yards set by Jeremy Ditzler against Clarion in 2010 and Adam Foust against Thomas More in 1998.
  • Brooks entered the game with four receptions for 51 yards, before setting season-highs in both categories against IUP.
  • Carpenter shattered his previous career-high in tackles by five. His previous career-high of 12 was duplicated in back-to-back weeks against Mercyhurst and Edinboro.
  • Howard set a new season-high in tackles, surpassing his previous mark of 12 at Slippery Rock in week four.
  • Dorian Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) entered the game with 12 career tackles, before posting a career-high eight against IUP.
  • Quad Law (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) moved past Jesstin Hamm (Harwood, Md./DeMatha Catholic) (2011-15) and into third place all-time at Gannon with his 154th career reception.
  • Zanders II closed within three tackles of K.J. Heider's (1989-92) program record of 341 career tackles.
  • Quad Law (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) jumped past Sam Culberth (2002-06) into eighth place all-time at Gannon with 3,187 career all-purpose yards.
  • Gannon will need to win its final two games against Clarion and Millersville to secure its fourth consecutive winning season. That has been accomplished only once (1992-95) in school history.
