HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lock Haven had the first chance to score with a flurry of activity in front of the net during the 11th minute. Senior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario /Notre Dame C.S.S.) initially made a save on a shot from 25 yards out after a foul. Twenty seconds later, she made another save during a one-on-one situation 15 yards out on the right side.
  • Gannon had its first great chance in the 29th minute when the Lock Haven goalkeeper turned away a Lady Knight shot headed towards the upper right corner on a breakaway.
  • Lock Haven out-shot Gannon 9-7 during the opening 45 minutes, but neither team was able to find the back of the net during the scoreless first half.
  • The second half didn't lack offensive firepower. Gannon needed only 4:31 to dent the scoreboard. Junior Olivia Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) broke behind the defense, but was turned away by the Lock Haven goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. However, sophomore Nicole Felice (Cleveland, Ohio/Laurel School) redirected the rebound into the lower, left corner for a 1-0 lead.
  • Gannon doubled its lead 7:27 later. Differ bombed a kick from her end of the field that bounced high off the turf and over the last defender. True freshman Taylor Lewis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) gained possession of the ball and scored into the lower, left corner on a breakaway for a 2-0 advantage.
  • Lock Haven tried to rally and cut the lead in half with 16:50 remaining. Several players on both sides battled for a loose ball 25 yards out, before Marah Foltz gained control and pushed a shot past the goalkeeper.
  • The goal that arguably iced the match came during the 80th minute when Lewis was hauled down inside the box. Junior Hannah Manczka (Fairview, Pa./McDowell) then converted the penalty kick inside the right post for a 3-1 lead.
  • Lewis added an insurance goal with 4:17 to play on a highlight-reel header. With her back to the goal 10 yards out, Lewis headed a pass from sophomore BethAnn Doyno (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) perfectly into the upper, left corner to cap the scoring.

GAME NOTES
  • Lock Haven out-shot Gannon 18-17 and had three fewer fouls (10-13).
  • The Lady Knights took five corner kicks compared to the Bald Eagles' two.
  • Differ recorded nine saves between the pipes.

  • Gannon's four goals during the final 45 minutes represented the Lady Knights' highest-scoring half since netted four during the first half of a 4-0 shutout of Edinboro at McConnell Family Stadium on October 13, 2015. It was the highest-scoring second half since netting six during a 7-1 win against Indiana (Pa.) at home on October 28, 2014.
