THE RUNDOWN

The Short Story:
  • Notre Dame scored late in the first half during the 39th minute and added an insurance goal during the 83rd minute to shut out Gannon 2-0 Thursday night in the season opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Notre Dame scored the first goal on its sixth shot at the pipes. Leonardo Paiva netted his first goal of the season 39:05 into the match. Ryan Ware was credited with the assist.
  • Paiva added his second goal of the night with eight minutes left in regulation to insure the Falcons victory.

GAME NOTES
  • Sophomore Jorge Hernandez (Atvidaberg, Ostergotland (Sweden) / Bildningscentrum Facetten) recorded four saves in goal during his first collegiate start.
  • Redshirt junior Jason Fox (Southport, Australia/ The Southport School), junior Sergio Kobowane (Johannesburg, South Africa / King Edward VII) and Redshirt-junior Connor Pletz (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep) each had one shot on goal for Gannon.
