GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon controlled play through the first half, out-shooting Bloomsburg 8-1. However, neither team was able to muster a goal before heading to halftime tied at zero.
  • The Lady Knights appeared to have scored the first goal when redshirt senior Michelle Genetin's (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) header in the 17th minute found the back of the net, but the goal was waved off because of an offside call.
  • Bloomsburg's best scoring chance came in the 31st minute. The Huskies sent a crossing pass in front of the net, but junior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame C.S.S.) came out of the goal to intercept the crossing pass over top several Bloomsburg players.
  • Differ stepped up big again 1:37 into the second half. She initially stopped a one-on-one opportunity, before Stephanie Tuccio blasted the rebound over the crossbar.
  • The turning point came in the 66th minute. Senior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) was hauled down on the right side of the box during a rush. She then beat the Bloomsburg goalkeeper to the right on a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
  • Gannon put intense pressure on Bloomsburg during a five-minute span late in regulation. Junior Bethany Perri (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) fired a shot from 25 yards out that appeared to be headed into the upper left corner during the 81st minute, but the Bloomsburg goalkeeper poked the potential score away.
  • Genetin finally got that insurance goal in the 84th minute. The redshirt senior stole the ball 20 yards out, dribbled in and beat the goalkeeper to the lower right for a 2-0 edge.
  • Senior Sammy Valloud (Erie, Pa./McDowell) then iced the victory with another unassisted goal 61 seconds later, scoring into the upper left corner from 25 yards out on the right side while falling down.
