HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon got off and running with two goals during the opening 76 seconds, getting scores from sophomore Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and Sundberg.
  • After a Kutztown goal, the Lady Knights ripped off five consecutive scores to assume control at 7-1 with 9:33 to play.
  • Sundberg and junior Becky Hilker (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central SS) opened the outburst with unassisted tallies, before Mitchell followed with three straight goals.
  • The two teams split the next four goals until Hilker tallied her third of the first half with eight seconds left, giving the Lady Knights a 10-3 advantage at the intermission.
  • Kutztown drew first blood in the second half, but Vouros and freshman Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) answered with free-position goals to extend the lead to 12-4 at the 27:33 mark.
  • The visitors then gained some traction, out-scoring Gannon 7-2 over the next 24 minutes and seven seconds. One of the Lady Knights' two goals during that time span came from Kallenborn.
  • Kutztown drew within 14-11 after Taylor Stone's unassisted tally at the 3:26 mark.
  • Gannon was then able to fend off the Golden Bears with goals from Mitchell and Hilker during the final 93 seconds to account for a 16-11 victory.
