THE SHORT STORY: The No. 6 Gannon women's volleyball team came to a close on Saturday night in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship match, as top-seed and host Wheeling Jesuit swept the Lady Knights, 3-0.

Click HereHOW IT HAPPENED:- Trailing 5-1 in the first set, Gannon went on a small 5-4 run to pull within three, 6-3.
- With kills from senior Lynne Hibbard and back-to-back kills from junior Hannah Kren, the Lady Knights pulled within two of Wheeling Jesuit, 8-10.
- Kayce Krucki recorded two kills for the Cardinals to lead, 13-9, but Lauren Beck kept Gannon in the game with a kill to pull within three.
- Gannon recorded back-to-back kills to trail 21-15, but the Cardinals remained in control and took the first set 25-19.
- The Cardinals jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but with an attacking error by Krucki gave the Lady Knights the ball back.
- The Lady Knights went on a 4-1 run to tie the set 6-6, which included a kill from Beck, senior Morgan Walters, and a block from Hibbard and Beka Smith.
- Gannon continued to use the momentum recording six consecutive points to take their first lead of the match, 11-7.
- The Cardinals slowly began to chip away at the Lady Knights led, until they went scored five consecutive points off Gannon errors to lead 17-16.
- With a kill from Kelsey Ansec, the Lady Knights would even the score at 17-17.
- Gannon pulled within one of Wheeling Jesuit, with a kill from Walters, 21-20.
- Wheeling would go on a 4-1 run to close out the set 25-21, and take the second set overall.
- With the third set at 5-5, the Cardinals tallied two consecutive points, before a kill from Hibbard pulled the Lady Knights within one, 7-6.
- Wheeling Jesuit went on a 6-3 run to lead 9-13 with a kill from Maddy Smyth.
- Gannon recorded three consecutive points to pull within one of the Cardinals, 17-16, which included two kills from Kren and a kill from Beck.
- Wheeling Jesuit would call a timeout after a ball handling error pulled Gannon again within one, 19-18.
- Trailing 21-18, Gannon recorded four points, off three errors from the Cardinals, including an error from Smyth that would tie the set at 22-22.
- Wheeling Jesuit closed the set and the match recording three straight points for the final 25-22.
BEYOND THE BOX:- Gannon concludes the 2015 season with an overall record of 24-11, eclipsing 20 or more wins for the seventh-straight season.
- The Lady Knights appeared in their first NCAA Sweet Sixteen since the 1993 season.
- Wheeling Jesuit will face Arkansas Fort Smith in the Quarterfinals on December 10, 2015 in Tampa, Florida.
