The Short Story: The No. 21 Gannon women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host Roberts Wesleyan Tuesday evening at the RWC Outdoor Stadium in non-conference action. The Redhawks broke the scoreless tie in the 53rd minute before holding on for the win over the nationally-ranked Lady Knights.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks scored the 53rd minute to break the scoreless tie. On an offensive rush, Taylor Fletcher alone on the right side before sending a pass over to Laura Herman, who buried the shot in for the Redhawks' eventual game-winner.
- In a goalkeeper battle, sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario / Notre Dame C.S.S.) recorded three saves in the match to move to 3-2-0 overall. Redhawks' goalkeeper Marissa Sell recorded her first shutout of the season, pulling in six second-half saves.
 
GAME NOTES
- The Lady Knights dominated offensively with an 11-4 shot advantage over the Redhawks. In addition, the Lady Knights held the edge in shots on goal, 6-4. The Lady Knights generated eight shots in the second half compared to the Redhawks' three chances.
- Junior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) led the Lady Knights with four shots and junior Ally Sharpe (Holley, N.Y. / Brockport) added three shots to the Lady Knights' totals.
- From the corner, the Lady Knights received nine opportunities compared to the Redhawks' two chances.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Lady Knights and Roberts Wesleyan squared off for the first time in program history.
- The match was the only non-conference meeting for the Lady Knights this season. From here on out, the Lady Knights will face a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent in each match.
- Previously competing in the NAIA, the Redhawks were recommended and approved as an active NCAA Division II member. The team competes in the East Coast Conference (ECC).
- The Lady Knights are currently ranked 21st in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II National Rankings.

Gannon returns home to GU Field for back-to-back conference matches. The Lady Knights will face East Stroudsburg Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. before facing No. 9 West Chester Sept. 20, at 5 p.m.
