Gannon’s Kren Receives AVCA Division II All-Atlantic Region Honors


ERIE, Pa. - Sophomore Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wisc. / Wisconsin Lutheran) of the Gannon women's volleyball team picked up her fourth postseason award of the season, receiving American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II All-Atlantic Region honors announced by the association Wednesday.
 
For the first time in her career, Kren also earned a spot on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division First Team, Daktronics NCAA Division II Atlantic Region First Team and NCAA Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team.
 
Kren led the Lady Knights with 16 kills and 11 digs in the team's opening-round loss to Seton Hill at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Nov. 20, hosted by top-seed Wheeling Jesuit at the Alma Grace McDonough Center. She earned a double-double in her fifth consecutive match, finishing the season with 20 double-doubles. Attacking at a clip of .216, the sophomore finished the match with a team-best 19 points and added four block assists, two assists and a service ace.
 
In her last 18 appearances, the Waukesha, Wisc., native registered 16 of her 20 double-doubles this season. She led the Lady Knights in total kills (379), kills per set (3.75) and points per set (4.16), while ranking second in digs per set (3.85). She also finished fourth in service aces per set (0.19) and blocks per set (0.39). The sophomore finished the season atop the conference in kills per set.
 
Kren recorded 15 or mores kills in 12 matches and eclipsed 20 or more in three matches. She established a new career-high with 27 kills along with 17 digs in the regular-season home-finale against Clarion Nov. 1.
 
Gannon compiled a 24-7 overall record this season. For the sixth consecutive season, the Lady Knights have reached the 20-win mark, clinched a berth in the PSAC Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
