  • Gannon led the decisive set 14-10, before Edinboro rallied with five straight points to climb within a point of victory.
  • However, Gannon rebounded with two straight points to forge back in front 16-15, followed by a Fighting Scots point to tie the set at 16.
  • A Gannon service ace and a kill by sophomore Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finally ended the marathon thriller with an 18-16 victory in the final set.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon lost the first set for only the second time in 23 matches this season. Pitt-Johnstown was the only other team to steal the first set from the Lady Knights during a crossover match at Slippery Rock on October 10.
  • Kren recorded her 14th double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills and career-high 28 digs. She topped her previous career-high of 27 digs produced at California (Pa.) on October 25, 2013.
  • Freshman Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio/Solon) had 10 kills, tying her season-high previously set September 19 at Cheyney.
  • Kren has recorded 10 double-doubles during the last 11 matches.
  • Senior Taryn Graham (Huron, Ohio/Huron) reached the 20-dig plateau for the eighth time this season, finishing with 22.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon has won eight consecutive matches after suffering its only two defeats. The Lady Knights opened the season with 13 straight victories.
  • Head coach Matt Darling's club swept rival Edinboro for the second time in the last three seasons.
  • Gannon remained one game behind first-place Clarion in the PSAC Western Division. The Golden Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit Friday night at California (Pa.), before winning the fourth set 31-29 and the fifth set 23-21.
  • The Lady Knights played their third five-set affair of the season, but won for the first time. Gannon's only two losses of the campaign have come in five sets on the road at Mercyhurst and Clarion. The squad's last five-set victory came November 16, 2013 against California (Pa.) in the regular-season finale at the Hammermill Center.
  • Gannon is off to a 14-2 start in conference play for the second time during the last three seasons.
  • The Lady Knights have won 21 of their first 23 matches for the first time in the 2000's.

QUOTABLES |  HEAD COACH MATT DARLING
  • "We feel very fortunate to get a win tonight because we were out-coached and often out-played throughout the night. But sometimes you just have to accept a win, just like sometimes you have to accept losses after a good performance. We have been on both sides and we are grateful tonight for every point we got."

UP NEXT
  • Gannon concludes a weekend road swing Saturday, October 25 at Slippery Rock. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
  • The Lady Knights will attempt to sweep the Rock for the sixth consecutive season. Gannon has won 11 straight matches against Slippery Rock dating back to the 2009 season.
