ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's volleyball team concludes its three-game home stretch this weekend, as the Lady Knights host the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks and Clarion Golden Eagles at the Hammermill Center. The weekend of action opens on Friday when the Lady Knights face the Crimson Hawks at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Knights will host the Golden Eagles in their annual Dig Pink match with the first set scheduled for 2 p.m.
DIG PINK
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gannon will host its annual Dig Pink contest on Saturday, Oct. 12 when the Lady Knights host Clarion at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the Dig Pink match will be given to Linked by Pink, a local non-profit organization that provides assistance to breast cancer patients and their families during treatment.
All attendees who show up to the contest in pink attire will be presented a free raffle ticket for their support of the cause. Each raffle ticket will be entered for a prize drawing of his or her choice from gifts donated by local businesses. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the match in increments of one ticket for $1, five tickets for $3 and an arm length for $5. Following the match, winners will be drawn at random. All attendees will also have a chance to pre-order a Dig Pink t-shirt for $10. The Dig Pink t-shirts will also be available for the rest of the month for $15 each.

- The Gannon Lady Knights watched their home unbeaten-streak at the Hammermill Center come to an end on Oct. 8, as crosstown rival Mercyhurst walked away with a 3-1 victory. After taking the opening set by the score of 26-24, the Lady Knights were unable to stop the Lakers in the next three sets.
- Recording 20 consecutive wins at the Hammermill Center, the Lady Knights' loss was the first time the team fell at home since Sept. 28, 2012 in a 3-1 loss to California (Pa.), who was undefeated in PSAC action at the time.

- In the recent NCAA Division II national rankings released on Oct. 6, the Lady Knights ranked 34th in hitting percentage (.230), 28th in aces per set (1.9) and 50th in blocks per set (2.13).
- Sophomore
Lynne Hibbard (West Barnstable, Mass. / Barnstable) moved up two slots in block per set from the last set of individual national rankings, sliding into 18th (1.22). The sophomore slid back to 21st in hitting percentage (0.369) after finishing in the top 10 the week before.

- In recent action, the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks forced a five-set battle with a one-loss Clarion squad on Oct. 8. Despite a Golden Eagle win in the opening set, the Crimson Hawks captured the next two sets to take 2-1 lead in the match.
- The Crimson Hawks have dropped four straight matches in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. Their last win came against Lock Haven in the PSAC East/West Crossover held at Seton Hill. Indiana (Pa.) and Lock Haven exchanged sets in the five-set ordeal with the Bald Eagles eventually taking the match, 3-2.
- Crimson Hawks are familiar with the court at the Hammermill Center, posting a 3-0 record at the PSAC/Mountain East Crossover on Sept. 20-21. The Crimson Hawks collected a 3-1 victory in each match against Notre Dame (Ohio), West Virginia Wesleyan and West Virginia State.

GAME NOTES
- Clarion rallied from a 2-1 deficit against Indiana (Pa.) on Oct. 8 to take a 3-2 win over the host Crimson Hawks. The Golden Eagles opened with a 25-20 win in the first set before falling behind to IUP. Clarion bounced back in the fourth set with a 25-13 victory to force a fifth set, where the Golden Eagles won the match with a 15-9 decision.
- Opening the season at 14-0, Clarion fell one victory short of tying their best start in program history since 1973.
- Clarion's lone loss of the season came on Oct. 4 versus California (Pa.) in five sets. Falling behind on the road, the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome the Vulcans' lead despite winning the third and fourth sets.
- In the NCAA Division II national rankings released on Oct. 6, Clarion ranked in the top 25 of five major categories. The Golden Eagles ranked third in the nation in win percentage (.938), 19th in kills per set (13.6), 21st in assists per set (12.7), 23rd in hitting percentage (.240) and 24th in digs per set (17.8).
- Sophomore Morgan Seybold ranked eighth in digs per set (5.96) NCAA Division II individual rankings. In addition, junior Laura Subject was 20th in the nation in assists per set, averaging 10.9.
