ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon volleyball team will host a total of eight matches this weekend at the Hammermill Center as part of the PSAC-WVIAC Crossover Tournament. The Lady Knights will play four matches, two on both Friday and Saturday.

Gannon enters the weekend with an 0-4 record after facing tough competition at last weekend's Triton Classic hosted by Missouri-St. Louis. At the tournament,
Lauren Sazama (St. Louis, Mo. / Oakville) was named to the all-tournament team after recording 39 kills, 48 digs and six service aces.
Kara Cullen (Marstons Mills, Mass. / Barnstable) also had a strong start to the season. The senior averaged 2.20 kills per set while hitting .247 during the four matches.
Claren Harris (South Milwaukee, Wis. / South Milwaukee) was strong both offensively and defensively for Gannon. The senior added 20 kills and averaged 1.33 blocks per set.
The Lady Knights will face off against Pitt-Johnstown in the first match of they day. The Lady Cats hold a 1-3 record heading into the contest, losing the opening match of the season to Edinboro 3-0. They are led by Tayler Vebares, who averages 2.24 kills per set. Defensively, Kelsey Kohler averages 5.76 digs for Pitt-Johnstown.
Gannon takes on West Virginia Wesleyan Friday night at 8 p.m. The Bobcats finished 2-2 at the Fairmont State tournament during the opening weekend of the season. They defeated Mercyhurst and West Liberty before falling to both Point Park and Edinboro.
Saturday the Lady Knights open with a match against Seton Hill at 12 noon. The Griffins hold a 3-2 record coming into the weekend. Seton Hill earned runner-up honors at the Glenville State Tournament losing to Ohio Dominican 3-1 in the finals. The Griffins also defeated Pitt-Greensburg 3-0 earlier this week.
The tournament will conclude with Gannon taking on Alderson-Broaddus at 4 p.m. After competing at the Lynn University Invitational, Battlers' setter Kayla Peterson was selected to the all-tournament team. She dished out 93 assists during the Battlers five matches. Alderson-Broaddus earned wins over Kentucky State (3-2) and Post University (3-0) during the tournament.
